• Totally extraperitoneal route extended (eTEP). Experience at Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad ( 2020-2021)

eTEP (e: extended), includes access to the extraperitoneal space far from the optical port, expanding the surgical field. Objective: Assess the use of the E-tep technique in patients after performing hernia cure at theCentro Médico Docente La Trinidad and Hospital de Clínicas Caracas, between January 2020 and November 2021. Methods: This is an observational, analytical, prospective and longitudinal study where the use of the E-tep technique was be assessed Results: In the present study the postoperative pain scale was measured, the average values of pain at rest were from x̄ = 4.17 to x̄ = 0.00, pain in movement were x̄ = 3.13 to x̄ = 0.33 numbness x̄ = 3.00 at x̄ = 0.17 and discomfort or discomfort in the groin area x̄ = 3.87 at x̄ = 0.33. This same decrease occurred from day 1 to day 90 in regards to testicular pain, the average values were from x̄ = 3.17 to x̄ = 0.00. Quality of life was measured using the SF-12 quality of life questionnaire, under the Likert scale. In this survey, it was obtained the average value of the patient's quality of life which had a total average of 2.89. Conclusion: In this research it is concluded that the new eTEP technique is effective, however its use should be promoted in order to be done with a significant number of patients, for its comparison and incidents since the postoperative evolution is satisfactory.
