Introduction: the presence of degenerative disorders in the spine, low back pain and symptoms due to their condition is highly frequent, hence facet hypertrophy is related to canal and foraminal stenosis that will produce symptoms irradiated to the lower limbs and claudication . Case report: this is a 59-year-old male patient, who reports the onset of the current disease in the month of June, when he presents localized pain in the lumbar region, which radiated to the lower limbs, which was sudden, without triggers, insidious, constant over time, which was attenuated with lumbar flexion and which limited the patient's standing and effective gait, reporting increased pain and a feeling of weakness in both lower limbs, forcing them to stop walking after 20 to 30 meters. Discussion and Conclusion: This case is brought up for discussion due to the high frequency of degenerative disorders of the lumbar spine that can lead to common symptoms such as low back pain with possible irradiation to the lower limbs or alterations in neurological function. The main lessons that we can extract from this case is that these pathologies can alter the quality of life, and that there are multiple surgical alternatives, with advanced minimally invasive techniques that seek benefits in the surgical act and the reduction of perioperative risks, and that can satisfactorily improve the symptoms of patients with these problems.
